About Us and our Story

Hall Street Menswear and Ladieswear is based in the beautiful market town of Long Melford, Suffolk (CO10 9JL).

The story began in 2013, when I opened the original menswear store as a stand-alone shop, focusing on mid- to high-end classic, business-casual, and practical clothing for men. Nestled in rural West Suffolk, our goal from the start was simple: to serve the local community while also welcoming the many visitors and tourists who come to Long Melford, one of West Suffolk’s historic wool towns.

In 2017, I launched hall-street.co.uk, our online store, giving us another way to connect with both local and visiting customers. While our core audience remains rooted in Suffolk, we’re proud to serve loyal customers from Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and even further afield.

In 2014, we briefly expanded into the nearby market town of Hadleigh, but following the challenges of the local politics and the pandemic in 2020, we decided to re-group & consolidate back to our original Long Melford location — the heart and home of Hall Street.

Over the years, Hall Street has established itself as a go-to destination for menswear. In 2021, the store evolved beyond just town and high street wear to embrace country lifestyle brands such as Schoffel, RM Williams and Dubarry, broadening our appeal even further.

Following the success of the menswear store, in October 2023, we took another exciting step: opening a dedicated ladieswear store directly opposite our original shop. The new store carries the same Hall Street signature — classic, stylish, and practical — but this time for our female visitors.  

In early 2024, we welcomed the newest member of the Hall Street family — Leigh, our German Shepherd dog — who quickly became a firm favourite with customers and the community alike.
